Cecret Lake (2 miles)

Location: Little Cottonwood

This trail is located in the Albion Basin, past the Snowbird Ski Resort. We passed the Grizzly Gulch trail and stayed to the left. After driving about 10 minutes we drove onto an unpaved dirt road.

We climbed the dirt road to what felt like the top of the mountain to the Albion Basin trailhead where we found the trail to Cecret Lake to the right of the parking lot (due South).

We walked over a small bridge over a small stream to the beginning of the trail.

We passed some ski lifts as we made our way up the trail.

A look at the trail we climbed, as we made our way to the lake located on top of the mountain.

The beautiful wildflowers lined our path as we made our way to the lake

Cecret Lake

We walked around the lake

The path around the lake led to a hidden alcove with a miniature waterfall.

The path down became rockier and steeper. We found a group of rock climbers scaling the side of the mountain.

Eventually the trail around the lake met up with the main trail and we followed it back to the beginning.

The drive back was scenic and we saw an Avalanche warning sign.

The trail to the lake was suitable for all ages. The trail around the lake was rocky and more challenging. It's important to start this trail as early as possible (no later than 7 am) because it is a well known trail and can get busy.
